New ideas.

So after thinking about the total disaster that CADL v MOC became, I decided that the fights in the battle over guns is a local one most of the time.

So I decided to take this blog in a new direction (was there any directions to begin with?). Instead of focusing on federal issues, I've decided to focus locally. There are already a lot of bloggers who cover national issues, and I can only think of a few that cover Michigan issues.

I'll start with a summary of legislation that will potentially affect Michiganders, local law suits, and of course the open carry crowd and their struggles against restrictive laws.

Re: OMB Control Number 1140-New	I am writing to OPPOSE the Information collection action to register multiple sales of certain rifles with BATFE from the 04/29/2011 Federal Register: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-04-29/pdf/2011-10355.pdf This information collection is both illegal and unnecessary. Specifically addressing your request for comments on whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information will have practical utility, the collection of this additional data will impede the proper function of ATF field operations. Even when firearm's dealers in the Southwest voluntarily provided information on multiple semi-automatic rifle sales to the ATF in an effort to prevent straw purchases and illegal sales, the ATF could not keep up with the volume of information. Adding a requirement that ALL dealers submit this information will create information overload. Because of this it would not have practical utility and would impede proper performance of the agency. Iowa Preemption HSB 19

"A court shall award the prevailing plaintiff in any such suit all of the following: (1) Reasonable attorney fees. (2) Liquidated damages equal to the amount of three times the attorney fees awarded in subparagraph (1). (3) Litigation costs. (4) Interest on the amounts awarded pursuant to this subsection shall accrue at fifteen percent from the date suit is filed. b. Payment of such fees, damages, costs, and interest may be secured by seizure of any vehicles used or operated for  the benefit of any elected office holder in the political subdivision if not paid within seventy-two hours of the court’s order"

Hello internet!

Well after reading gun blogs for months, I decided to make a home for myself. I picked the name "Belt-Fed Hell" since I just completed a 1919a4 BMG from an Israeli parts kit. Lets just say that I learned the hard way that the right tool makes all the difference when doing complex tasks. I'll have some pics up as I get them online. 

I'll be blogging on anything I want, but I'll probably post a lot on guns and medicine.

We'll see how it goes.
